THE GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION
Peaceful rural village, located in Normandy, it is part of the department of Eure (27). The Village of Venables covers an area of 1486 hectares. It is located opposite one of the most beautiful meanders of the Seine. The highest point rises to 124m above sea level. The population is 814 inhabitants (2014 census).
Coordinates of the village Latitude: 49 ° 12'2.28 " Longitude: 1 ° 17'51.59 ".
Crossed by the Cd 135, the village is located in the center of a triangle formed by the towns of Andelys (7Kms), Gaillon (9Kms) and Louviers (14Kms). The village consists of a market town and six hamlets. The large urban centers are nearby: to the east of Paris (100 km), to the north-west of Rouen (42 km), to the south of Evreux (25 km).
The natural setting of the village reveals two types of landscapes. A chalky plateau or flint clay competes with the rich silts of the Quaternary. On this plateau is the village, and the hamlets of Fontaine la Verte, the Val d'Ailly and the Moulin à Vent. This upper part corresponds to the end of the Madrie plateau (former Pagus Madriacencis). The second geological entity is made up of the structuring axis of the Seine valley where the hamlets of La Mare sous Venables, La Rive and L'Ormais have developed.
